Centre des Écritures Dramatiques Prize – Wallonie-Bruxelles

The Centre des Écritures Dramatiques – Wallonie-Bruxelles Prize, valued at $5,000, enables an emerging, mid-career, or established playwright to undertake a one (1)-month writing residency at the Conciergerie de Mariemont in Belgium. The grant associated with this prize will cover all expenses related to the writer’s residency. The total value of the prize, including investments by the Centre des Écritures Dramatiques, is $10,000. This prize is awarded thanks to the generous support of the Centre des Écritures Dramatiques – Wallonie-Bruxelles and the Canada Council for the Arts.
The writing residency must take place in 2025 after the month of March. The dates will need to be agreed upon between the laureate and the Centre des Écritures Dramatiques – Wallonie-Bruxelles. Please note that the Conciergerie de Mariemont is in an isolated location.
Important : This prize is open to emerging, mid-career, or established authors.
Eligibility criteria
Work professionally in the theatre community.
Anchor most of their practice in Canada’s Francophonie. By “Canada’s Francophonie” we mean the provinces where Francophones are a linguistic minority.
Applicants may not submit more than one project per prize. In addition, a person may not win two prizes in the same year.
