Award for a Professional Development Project Presented by the École Nationale de Théâtre

The Professional Development Award presented by L’École Nationale de Théâtre, valued at $5,000, enables an emerging, mid‑career, or established artist from the Canadian francophone theatre community to undertake a training or professional development project at L’École Nationale de Théâtre. Feel free to submit projects for your own benefit or for that of a community of practice in your area. By “Canadian francophone community” we mean francophones living in a minority‑language context.

This award is presented thanks to the generous support of the National Theatre School of Canada. It was awarded for the first time in 2019.

Have worked professionally in the theatre sector for at least five years, including all types of experience.

Anchor most of their practice in Canada’s Francophonie. By “Canada’s Francophonie” we mean the provinces where Francophones are a linguistic minority.

Applicants may work in all areas of theatre: playwriting, directing, acting, set design, lighting, etc.

An individual who has received an Award of Excellence from the Foundation cannot apply the following year.

Applicants may not submit more than one project per prize. In addition, a person may not win two prizes in the same year.
